We focus on annual exams, vaccines, and addressing everyday concerns like allergies, ear infections, and behavioral support—all while fostering strong relationships with pet parents.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Lead Veterinarian to take the reins of their local Vetted clinic, overseeing medical excellence, coaching fellow veterinarians, and building a thriving community.

About the Role

The Lead Veterinarian is the medical and cultural cornerstone of their clinic, driving excellent patient care, fostering a vibrant client base, and mentoring their team. This role combines hands-on veterinary care with leadership and strategy, providing opportunities for growth, flexibility, and ownership in a fast-growing company.

Essential Responsibilities

Medical Excellence

  • Deliver top-notch primary care in line with Vetted's community model, including bi-annual physical exams, preventative treatments with an emphasis on early detection, and routine medical issues with special care on client education.
  • Conduct thorough physical exams (we give extra time for physical exams, so we can check every nook and cranny without feeling rushed) and diagnostic procedures.
  • Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans, ensuring they align with Vetted’s standards and pet parents’ needs.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed medical records.
  • Educate pet parents on treatment options, aftercare, and preventative strategies.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local veterinary regulations.

Team Coaching & Development

  • Mentor and coach veterinarians and technicians to achieve clinical excellence.
  • Provide guidance on client communication and ensure a stellar customer experience.
  • Lead team connects to motivate and align staff with clinic goals.
  • Support team members’ professional development through feedback and encouragement.

Community Building

  • Engage with the local pet community to promote the clinic and attract new clients.
  • Partner with the Vetted central team to execute community-building initiatives using provided playbooks.
  • Build lasting relationships with pet parents to encourage loyalty and trust in Vetted.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Vetted mission, spreading awareness of our unique approach to care.

Leadership & Operations

  • Collaborate with the central Vetted team to implement clinic processes and initiatives.
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives with marketing, operations, and more.
  • Create and manage the clinic’s doctor schedule, ensuring appropriate coverage.
  • Address medical concerns and client feedback with empathy and professionalism.
  • Monitor clinic performance metrics, such as client volume and transaction averages, and take ownership of improvement strategies.

Who We’re Looking For

  • DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree with an active license to practice in the clinic’s state.
  • 2+ years of experience in veterinary practice (primary care preferred).
  • Leadership experience or a strong interest in growing leadership skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to build and grow the business.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a passion for teaching and connecting with clients.
  • Flexibility to work 32–40 hours per week with self-selected shifts between the hours of 9 AM–8 PM, 4–5 days per week.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and motivated by a mission to improve veterinary care.
